Jason Olbres Testimonial

Jason Olbres

This summer Jason Olbres started his personal training journey with EZIA Athletic Club. He strives to improve his fitness and is focusing on injury prevention training. You may recognize this local islander since he is the founder of Shelter 7. His company designs and builds well-crafted homes that enrich the lives of others. Jason and his wife, Nicole, enjoy spending their time traveling to new places.  Nicole is also a client at EZIA. She visits the gym twice a week with a group of other fit Nantucket moms. When designing homes, their influence originates from all of the amazing places they have traveled. Jason enjoys running marathons, surfing, watersports, and spending time with his family.

Why did Jason decide to join EZIA?

In the beginning, Jason joined the EZIA Athletic Club looking to help build his overall strength and endurance. Working back from a previous hamstring and lower back chronic strain injury has been Jason number one challenge. As a result, Jason’s pain had progressed to a point where it became a more aggressive acute pain. We spent several weeks in what we like to call at EZIA the rejuvenation phase mobility. We worked on activating and stabilizing his posterior chain, meaning his hamstrings, glutes, low back, and spinal erectors.  Jason never let his injuries set him back on his goal of improving his wellness.

What does Jason do in his training sessions?

Jason is an extraordinary high-performance athlete who enjoys participating in marathons. Here at EZIA, we focus on strength, power, endurance, and injury prevention when training Jason. During his first training session, our trainers had put him through a baseline test. This test is designed to measure his strengths, weakness, and overall kinesthetic awareness (awareness of your body’s position in space). After assigning his baseline, our trainers created a specific workout program that is tailored to Jason’s fitness need. In the beginning, our trainers worked on strengthening the muscles around the injured areas. Also, we focus on core, stability work, and basic strength training. As Jason has progressively become stronger, we challenge him to complete higher intensity interval training workouts. Our high-intensity interval training or HIIT workouts consist of cardiovascular exercise. These exercises work with alternating short periods of intense anaerobic exercise and less intense recovery time.
